Live, Laugh, Lichen
Sunday, May 31 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm
Join lichenologist Vivian Miao for an exploration of some of Lynn Canyon’s most fascinating organisms – lichens! A short introduction will be followed by an outdoor, guided exploration of lichens in the park. Seek out lichen forms such as “British soldiers” and “pelts” on the ground, “rag” and “bone” lichens on branches of trees and perhaps “flutes” on tree trunks. We may even see the unfortunately named “fairy barf” lichen!
Ages 15+. $16 per person (+GST for ages 15+) or free for Ecology Centre Members.
Buds, Blooms & Botany: Mini-Felting Workshop
Sunday, June 7 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
A gentle walk and indoor activity with an Ecology Centre naturalist exploring how plants wake up in the spring. You’ll learn how buds grow, identify early flowers, and then create your own needle felted bloom!
Ages 7+, adult supervision required. $16 per person (+GST) or free for members.
