Friends of the Ecology Centre receive a free badge and certificate for their involvement.
Volunteer Positions Available
We are looking for volunteers aged 18 and up to provide support during our field trips. Tasks include student supervision and assistance during activities, hiking and crafts.
Help teach our students about the environment!
Time commitment is variable from once every month to weekly. From September to November and April to June during the week.
We will provide a training session in April for new volunteers.
We are looking for volunteers aged 15 and up to tend to our pollinator garden. Make a difference by helping our hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, moths and more! Tasks include weeding, deadheading, general upkeep and interacting with visitors to the park. Supervision is not provided, so garden volunteers must be independent and self starting. Training is provided.
Give back to your community and help our precious pollinators!
Time commitment is variable from a once a month to tending to the garden weekly. Gardening happens April through to October during hours when the Ecology Centre is open.
We are at capacity for slide converting volunteers.
We are looking for volunteers aged 15 and up to assist with digitizing our slide collection. Tasks include using a slide converter, documentation and organization of files.

We are looking for independent volunteers aged 10 and up to help keep Lynn Canyon Park clean. Make a difference by protecting our wildlife from plastic pollution. Tasks include hiking through our trails to pick up garbage. Equipment and protective gear provided, supervision not provided.
Get outside and keep our park clean!
Time commitment is variable from a one time session to coming weekly.
Volunteer spaces are currently full for our Spring Break mini-camps, 2023.
We are looking for volunteers aged 15 and up to provide support during our mini-camps. Tasks include student supervision and assistance during activities, hiking and crafts.

Must be able to volunteer for at least one full camp (3 half days). Can volunteer for more than one camp if space is available.
Do you consider yourself an artist or crafty person? Enjoy working with your hands and creating realistic models out of unique materials?
We are looking for volunteers ages 18 and up to assist with creating a new display on plastic pollution at the Ecology Centre. Tasks include creating a 3D model of a beach using recycled plastics.
Time commitment is weekly or bi-weekly. You will work with other volunteers and our display technician to develop the new display.
