Interested in learning more about the spectacular temperate rainforest? Want to gain experience in environmental education? Or maybe you just want to give back to your community?

Come and join the dedicated group of volunteers at the Ecology Centre.

Volunteers of the Ecology Centre receive a free badge and certificate for their involvement. Volunteers get a discount on yearly Ecology Centre membership.

Volunteer Positions Available

We are looking for volunteers aged 18 and up to provide support during our field trips. Tasks include student supervision and assistance during activities, hiking and crafts.

Help teach our students about the environment!

Time commitment is variable from once every month to weekly. From September to November and March to June during the week.

Volunteers for this position will be required to get a Police Information Check/Criminal Record Check, which is free of charge at their local RCMP branch.

We are looking for independent volunteers aged 10* and up to help keep Lynn Canyon Park clean. Make a difference by protecting our wildlife from plastic pollution. Tasks include hiking through our trails to pick up garbage. Equipment and protective gear provided, supervision not provided. Volunteer on your own, or apply with a friend/family member to volunteer together.

Get outside and keep our park clean! 

Time commitment is variable from a one time session to coming weekly.

*Volunteers ages 10-14 must be accompanied by an adult.

We are at capacity for volunteers during our 2024 spring break camps. 

We are looking for volunteers aged 13 and up to provide support during our mini-camps. Tasks include student supervision and assistance during activities, hiking and crafts.

Mini-camps run on Pro-D days and during spring break and summer break. Find more info about them here.

Must be able to volunteer for at least one full camp (3 half days). Can volunteer for more than one camp if space is available.

Have you ever filmed a slug in timelapse? We are looking for independent volunteers to help connect people to nature through videos! The Ecology Centre aims to showcase the beautiful temperate rainforest in videos both through our social media and shown in our theatre.

Interested volunteers should have video filming and editing experience along with an interest in nature. We are happy to provide prompts and ideas, with the goal of teaching people about nature, the Ecology Centre or our programs. If you are interested, please also send an example of a video you have made (Nature Reel Example).

We are looking for committed volunteers who can come in during our open hours to be trained and then volunteer, ideally, once per week.
