Room Rental

The Ecology Centre rents out the upstairs room in the Lynn Canyon Cafe building. This room can hold 40 people classroom/theatre style or 25 people around tables.

Payment Details

Our fees for 2025 are $40 per hour (+GST). Minimum booking time is 2 hours. Time must include set-up/clean-up. Payment is required upon booking.

We require two weeks notice for a full refund less a $10 administration fee. Within two weeks of the booking date, no refund will be given.

Accessibility

The room is located up a flight of stairs around the back side of the cafe building. Please let us know in advance if you require the key to use the elevator.

Room Booking FAQ

A full refund will be given up to two weeks of the booking date, minus a $10 administration fee. Within two weeks no refund will be given.

All organized groups using Lynn Canyon Park for an event are required to get a Park Use Permit from the District of North Vancouver. You can apply for a permit through the North Vancouver Recreation Commission here.

It is the responsibility of the booking party to seek appropriate insurances to protect the safety of your group whilst operating in Lynn Canyon Park and its Park operated buildings. The District accepts no liability for accidents or incidents incurred whilst your group is supervised or unsupervised and using these facilities.

One complimentary parking spot is available in our staff parking area. See the above tab for a map.

For all other guests, pay parking is in effect seasonally from March 1 to October 31 from 8 am to 6 pm. Parking is $3 per hour, for a maximum of 4 hours. Payment options include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Visa Debit, Mastercard debit, Apple pay, Google pay and any Interac supported card at the pay stations, scan to pay, or the IndigoNeo app or website.

District residents are eligible to purchase a seasonal DNV Park Parking Pass ($10.00+GST) that allows passholders to park in the lot without paying the hourly rate.

Vehicles parked in a designated disability space and display a valid disability decal are exempt from payment at the lot. These spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Posted parking time limits apply. See more details about pay parking here.

There is free parking in the east Lynn Canyon parking lot, located off the northern end of Lillooet Road near the Lower Seymour Conservation Area.

Users won’t be given a room key; therefore, if they leave, the room will remain unsecured unless someone stays to monitor it.

Do not put or hang anything on the walls except using painters tape. No confetti or rice to be thrown inside or outside of the building. Helium balloons are not permitted.

You are welcome to bring your own food or catering into the rental room. You are not allowed to serve liquor.

There is a sink in the room along with a mini fridge.

The room has been provided in a fit and safe condition for its use. The renter is to reimburse the District for any expenses incurred due to damage. The District reserves the right to request your group leave the premises should any unacceptable behaviour in the District’s opinion occur.

It is the responsibility of the renters to set up and clean up their event. All set up and clean-up must take place during the rental hours booked. Following the event, the renters are responsible for leaving the room clean and tidy. This includes taking down decorations, placing tables and chairs back the way they were found, picking debris off the floor or cleaning any spills.

A broom and dustpan, along with a garbage and recycling bin is provided. The Ecology Centre Staff will take care of the removal of bins and contents at the end of the event.

If clean up is not finished before the end of your booked rental hours, you will be charged for an additional hour.
